Vitamin Facts We Need To Know

To be able to make informed decisions about our nutritional and dietary needs, we must get all the facts. There are some vitamins that can be toxic when taken in large doses (i.e., vitamins A, D, E or K). The body does not need these every day and stores them in the liver and fatty tissues when not used. They are also eliminated much more slowly than water-soluble vitamins (B-complex and C). How do we know how much is considered too much?

I found a pretty useful downloadable pamphlet that may help consumers make better decisions in regards to the use of vitamin supplements. This one is provided by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration). It's only three pages long so you don't have to read for hours to get the information. There's also no charge for it so check it out.

Vitamins are so essential to well being but many people don't realize that overdosing on vitamins is detrimental. Even less understand that synthetic vitamins are not bioactive therefore, they are not effectively utilized by the body so any vitamin supplement that is taken should be from a naturally derived source.
